BEING AN AUTHOR IS GREAT UNTIL LIFE TAKES OVER
As an author, I’m constantly told to write, write and write some more.
Release some more.
This year, for me, that’s not been possible. My original plan was, by this point, to have my novel, The Fantastical Gregory Shortbread almost ready for release while starting my next book.
However, as with anything in life, things rarely go to plan.
What’s been happening?
It’s been a topsy-turvy year. I was:
- Made Redundant
- Received a significant amount of copywriting work
- Had to find a new job, and then
- Started a new job
- Started my own Copywriting & Graphic Design business
It’s been a hectic couple of months, which meant writing had to be shoved to the back of the line.
What next for your favourite comedy author?
Right now I’ve completed the edit of the novel as suggested by my editor but it still needs work. There’s an outside chance of release by the end of this year, but if not it will be early 2018.
The end of this book seems like it will never come, but I assure you it will, and I know you’re going to love Gregory Shortbread. He’s probably the most rounded of all of my characters, and he doesn’t even live in Bumpkinton!
You have a new business?
Yes, if being an author wasn’t enough, I’ve heaped more work on myself by starting my own Copywriting and Graphic Design business, Indelible Think. Originally it was going to just be about writing, but my friend Kayleigh got on board and will also offer design.
It’s an exciting but busy time, and working for myself is my long-term aim.
